Turkey has a coastline of around 7,200 kilometers and accordingly has countless beaches. Whether sand or pebble beach, small hidden bays or long and well-frequented coastal strips – here every vacationer will find what his heart desires. Warm temperatures, plenty of sun in the summer months, paired with crystal clear water and lots of diving and snorkeling spots make Turkey an excellent travel destination for water lovers. One of the most beautiful beaches in the country is Öludeniz Beach with its blue lagoon. Fine sand meets turquoise-green shimmering sea. The Blue Lagoon is known far beyond the country’s borders. Kleopatra Beach is also one of the top beaches in Turkey. Located in Alanya, it offers you loungers, parasols and exciting water activities. Kleopatra Beach is also ideal for family vacations. Beaches that are also characterized by the finest sand are Iztuzu Beach in Daylan and Kaputas Beach in Kas.

Turkey has a few islands, but most of them have not yet been developed for tourism. Beach holidays in Turkey are usually spent on the different coasts of the country. Exceptions are the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, which is only recognized by Turkey, and the Prince Islands off Istanbul. In the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus you can expect not only beautiful beaches, but also historical buildings. For example, visit the fortress of Kyrenia or the Selimiye Mosque. You can arrive comfortably by plane or ferry. The Prince Islands There are nine of them in the immediate vicinity of Istanbul. Boats leave there every day to take you to one of the five inhabited islands. The largest of them is Buyukada. You can come here for a day trip as well as for a longer stay. Cars are not allowed on the Prince Islands, so you can look forward to peace and relaxation here. Carriages or bicycles are available as a means of transport.
