Patong is located on the west coast of Thailand and was once a fishing village. Today, the area has developed around the two kilometer long beach. The area became very popular in the 1980s.

Batong beach is widely known for its rich nightlife. If it is a party night in progress, the areas around Bangla Road and Paradise complex apply in particular. Around the Paradise complex there are several gay clubs, while the area around Bangla Road faces the straighter crowd. But there are lots of different bars, clubs and discos, places where you can party all night!

Attracts beach life, there is every opportunity to just take it easy, sunbathe and swim. Since the beach is a full two kilometers long, it is possible to find a place on the wonderfully beautiful beach. Are there activities that attract, is it possible to rent jet skis, paddle sea kayaks or why not try windsurfing?

Today, there are a large number of hotels for both budget travelers and those who want to cost themselves a little more luxury. In the area there are several of the larger hotel chains, such as Phuket Marriott Resort & Spa, Merlin Beach and Crest Resort & Pool Villas.

If you are going to Patong with your family and want a hotel adapted to this, for example Holiday Inn Resort Phuket is a very good choice. Or why not Phuket Graceland Resort And Spa, or Le Meridien Phuket Beach Resort?

There are more things to do in Patong about beach life and its surrounding activities. Why not visit the countless souvenir shops available or shop at the Jungceylon Mall?

In Patong there are also all possibilities for spa treatments. There are really luxurious spans as well as a little simpler budget places and the like. The price is much lower than a Thai massage or spa treatment in Sweden.

And, when it comes to price, you can both eat and drink very well for a low price in Patong. Of course there is also a rich selection of restaurants. Pan Yaah Restaurant is always worth a visit. With sea views and fantastic food, and a very reasonably priced menu, the restaurant is very well visited by both the local community and tourists. Enjoy a good meal in the southern part of Patong Beach and at the same time look out over the beautiful sea. An evening can’t get much better!

Many Swedish travel companies arrange trips to Patong, an example being Ving, which offers trips to Patong during both winter and summer.

It is also good to know that if you are a Swedish citizen, you can stay in the country for up to thirty days without a visa with a valid passport (which must be valid up to six months after returning from travel) and with a return ticket from Thailand. If the stay in Thailand is longer than thirty days, a visa is required. Check further at the country’s embassy or consulate in Sweden to get information about what applies to each visa application.
