Patong is located on the west coast of Thailand and was once a fishing village. Today, the area has developed around the two kilometer long beach. The area became very popular in the 1980s.
Batong beach is widely known for its rich nightlife. If it is a party night in progress, the areas around Bangla Road and Paradise complex apply in particular. Around the Paradise complex there are several gay clubs, while the area around Bangla Road faces the straighter crowd. It is also good to know that if you are a Swedish citizen, you can stay in the country for up to thirty days without a visa with a valid passport (which must be valid up to six months after returning from travel) and with a return ticket from Thailand.
