Candolim, India

According to citypopulationreview.com, Candolim is one of the most beautiful corners of the beach, stretching from Baga to Sinquerim. More calm and respectable than the neighboring Calangute, Candolim is famous for its many shops, hotels and good restaurants – more expensive than in other resorts of North Goa. The waves here are larger than on the rest of the coast, and the slopes to the water are a little steeper, but this does not affect the reputation of the beach as the most beautiful in the region. Just pay attention to this if you are going on vacation with children. In general, Candolim in its appearance is more reminiscent of South Goa than North.

Nearly all kinds of water sports and activities can be found near Sinquerim, such as parasailing, diving or snorkelling, or taking a short trip to watch dolphins. There are centers for the sale of water excursions and entertainment – there are also sellers: local “agents” often roam the beach.

If you walk along the coast towards Calangute, you can find the cleanest pond with clear water and giant scarlet lotus flowers.

Apart from swimming, lying on the beach, which here mainly consists of soft clean sand, shopping and restaurants, there is not much to do in Candolim. This resort is perfect for a simple relaxing holiday.

How to get there

Candolim Beach is located 14 km north of Panaji, the capital of Goa. From there there is a bus (every 20 minutes) and a taxi. The bus stops in front of Casa Sea Shell, in the center of Candolim. Some buses travel further south to Fort Aguada Beach Resort Terminus.

The beaches of Candolim

For the most part, Candolim Beach is soft, clean sand. There are many eateries and cafes along the waterfront. Closer to Sinquerim, you can find almost all kinds of water sports, from parasailing to swimming to dolphin habitats.

And just 100 meters from the shore is a long-aground large barge River Princess with the inscription “Moscow” (which has long been wanted to be removed, but in March 2009 “the cart was still there”). But in September-October 2010, the court of Mumbai was finally ordered to remove the rusty ship, which has been part of the coastal landscape for the past decade. The ore carrier MV River Princess ran aground in 2000. Tourists and locals have repeatedly asked for the coastline to be cleaned up, worried about environmental damage. A large artificial shallow has already formed around the ship, and traces of metal have been found in the sand.

Part of the beach, in the Donna Florina Beach Resort area, is a place where people who engage in various religious practices gather.

Cuisine and restaurants

You can have a good meal at the restaurants Bom Sucesso (live music, karaoke), Floyd’s (traditional Goan dishes), Coconut Inn, Flambee (very good cuisine), Stone House, Allspice (located near Taj Holiday Village, which is why the cost of lunch here is somewhat higher) and Top Corner.

Attractions and attractions in Candolim

You can go on an excursion “Snorkeling and Monkey Beach”, to Fort Aguada, in the capital of the state, the city of Panaji. On the way from Calangute to Candolim is an interesting chapel of St. Anthony. One of the oldest buildings in the resort is the well-preserved mansion-palace Costa Frias.
