History

Paris-Brussels is a course with a rich history. The competition was first held in 1893. The first edition was won by the Belgian André Henry. As the name suggests, of course, Paris-Brussels, the earlier start was actually in Paris and ends in Brussels. This made the distance that had to pass the drivers in this race, earlier often between 300 and 400 kilometres. This bike race, which was nicknamed “the price of the two capitals,” used to be a very prestigious classics. The prestige has decreased in recent decades. Partly as a result of the international rules, which dictate how long can a competition in a particular category, the competition has gotten much shorter than in the past. Paris has also been a long time since the beginning of this race.

Paris-Brussels, have a very rich track record, many big names, including Tour winner Francois Faber, Lucien Petit-Breton, Henri Pelissier, Nicolas Frantz and, of course, Eddy Merckx. Among the drivers who won twice, Paris-Brussels, include legends such as Rik van Looy and Briek Schotte. Oscar Lapize, French Tour winner in 1910, won the Paris-Brussels three times: in 1911, 1912 and 1913. The record for number of WINS in the Paris-Brussels Robbie McEwen. The Australian won this race five times: 2002, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008.
Course 2013

The start of the Brussels Cycling Classic is at 11:45 in the Cinquantenaire Park in Brussels. The course is about 200 kilometres long. 92 kilometers of the route goes through the Walloon Brabant, passes 86 kilometers by Flemish Brabant, 23 kilometres passing through Brussels region. Important slopes covered in the course include Smeysberg, Vossem Mountain and Long Street. The finish will be at the Empress Charlotte Avenue, near the Atomium.
